Be prepared or cry

Have a plan to make the day better for everyone you will meet with before you head out. A little pre-planning and consideration goes a long way.

In honor of the upcoming Mother’s Day, enjoy this guest post from Steeleworker Rick Gillis: A couple of weeks ago I was at a Houston airport waiting on my flight to board. I’m watching a young mother with a toddler and a “very new” born baby. The father joins them and it is obviously a truly happy family. Then the best thing ever happens. Leaving the little boy with dad, she reaches over and picks up a very full grocery bag and holding the baby in her arms she walks over to myself and to other passengers waiting to board. As she approaches, and with nothing more than a smile, she reaches into the bag and hands each of us a sandwich-size baggie that contains a few Hershey Kisses and assorted candies and a little typed note in it. The note said, “Hi, My name is Wren. I’m 4 months old and this is my first flight. I hope I don’t bother you but just in case…” This pro-active mother was making friends pre-flight. How thoughtful. How pre-considerate!

What will you do now to make things better for those around you later today?
