Make the Best of Your 15 Seconds of Fame

As you read this, I am on my way to the FOX affiliate in Houston (to talk about another parenting topic – this time a dangerous new drinking game that is proving fatal to some teens.) When you have a chance to be an ‘expert’ about something on TV, do your homework prior to your appearance. Know what they want you to talk about, research the subject, have a general knowledge of everything else going on in the news that day, and prepare two very relevant and short messages to get your point across. TV news moves fast – use the most important point you want to make first. Then, if you are lucky enough to get more air time, use your second point. Still more air time? You rock because you came prepared!
