TD Bank Cuts 200; Military Job Fair in Fla.; Xerox, Frontier Centers Hiring

TD Bank announced on May 8, 2012 that it will be closing a customer call center in Springfield, Mass. in December, and laying off nearly 200 employees. The closure results from the company’s decision to consolidate its call centers to locations in Maine, New Jersey and South Carolina. The Springfield employees are eligible for 40 vacant positions at other TD Bank locations throughout the area, and TD plans to host job fairs at the Springfield center in the coming months. Employees who do not find new jobs by December will be offered severance packages.

In honor of National Military Appreciation Month, DialAmerica Inc. will host a job open house for military personnel – including active-duty, retired military and military spouses - at its Jacksonville, Fla. contact center on May 17, from 10 am to 2 pm. The open house will offer job opportunities at DialAmerica and other military-related employers.
In April 2012, First Lady Michelle Obama recognized the company among a select group of businesses that have pledged to create more than 15,000 jobs for military families across the country. DialAmerica has 23 contact centers, with many near military instillations, including Charleston, S.C., El Paso, Texas, Omaha, Neb. and San Diego, Calif.

Frontier Communications will create 110 full-time, year-round jobs when it opens a new call center in the Myrtle Beach, S.C. area. Call center employees will provide customer support for billing, order fulfillment and other tasks. The company is accepting applications for the jobs effective immediately, with plans to hire and train 20 workers as soon as possible. Jobseekers can apply online at www.frontier.com. Xerox has announced plans to hire more than 300 new employees over the next few months at its call center in Lexington, Ky. to provide customer service for a new client. The majority of the new positions will be customer service representatives, but Xerox is also looking for quality assurance analysts, technical analysts and service center managers. A company spokesperson said hiring will begin immediately and continue through the summer. Applicants can apply online or at the company office at 101 Yorkshire Boulevard, near Richmond Road and St. Joseph East Hospital. There is also short-term project work available for temporary employees, which is not figured into the 300-person hiring goal. Those hired will receive health insurance and paid vacation. Source.
