You Have to Start Somewhere

Note from the editor: What does your contact center hope to achieve this year? Higher CSAT, lower turnover, or improved morale? Whatever it is, the first step to achieving any goal is to just get started! This tip from Dayna Steele is a great reminder and motivator. What will you do today to bring your contact center one step closer to achieving its goals?

martianTo succeed, you have to start somewhere but you have to start. I finally got around to watching The Martian on a flight home yesterday. Matt Damon has some great lines in the film but one in particular had me scrambling for a notepad. You just begin. How do you change jobs, how do you write a book, how do you start a blog, how do you fix something? I hear these questions and many more all the time. You just begin.

Here’s the actual quote from the movie:

At some point, everything’s gonna go south on you and you’re going to say, this is it. This is how I end. Now you can either accept that, or you can get to work. That’s all it is. You just begin. You do the math. You solve one problem and you solve the next one, and then the next. And, if you solve enough problems, you get to come home.

By the way, Johnson Space Center does not look like that, NASA management does act like that, and duct tape does work in space.
