When someone offers to help you, don’t be so quick to decline or ignore the help. Here’s the story – I’ve been the keynote speaker at an event for oil & gas interns three years in a row – always ending the speech with my phone number and email and an offer to help advise if ever needed. One intern has taken me up on the offer. One. I’m going to take a small bit of credit for his huge success in New York City. When someone offers to help you, be gracious and accept it. It may or may not lead you somewhere, but you will have added another person to your success network. No one does this alone. No one.
You have 201 days left to make a mark in 2015. What will you do today? Let someone help you with something. And, be sure to say thank you …. every time.
